At a press conference on China¡¯s intellectual property right (IPR) protection hosted by the State Council, Bo Xilai, minister of commerce, introduced the progress of IPR protection in China, and highly praised the protection work done in Yiwu market.
While answering the questions raised by United Press International on IPR protection in small commodity markets, Bo mentioned Yiwu market where inspectors patrol the market night and day. In this 35,000-booth market famous for its wide variety of commodities, any booth found dealing in counterfeit products would be closed and its selling right canceled.
Sources say that the achievement of IPR protection in Yiwu will be shown at the first China International Property Rights Protection Accomplishment Exhibition form April 16 to 23, making Yiwu the first county-level city with its achievement displayed at the exhibition.
